Team

First Base Music was founded by Peter Bayliss - Managing Director of Into Tomorrow Pty Ltd (www.intotomorrow.com.au) when he identified a need for artists to have a single place to go for a range of services and support. He recognised that there are a number of great resources available but it is often quite difficult for artists to find them, that other resources did not exist, and some that exist but in an unfair and unethical way.

Peter Bayliss - Managing Director

Peter started his music industry career playing a variety of instruments in a number of indie bands before moving into managing and booking artists.  Peter was invited to run independent showcase festival Indyfest, expanding the number and range of performers and established an industry forum component. He also established the ACT branch of the Music Managers Forum Australia and became national Chairman.

Peter has long championed artist empowerment and promoting ethical and collaborative behaviour in the industry. He has been on national and international industry panels, facilitated sessions on barriers facing indigenous musicians in the contemporary music industry, been involved in lobbying government for artist rights, better noise restriction and zoning laws, co-ordinated volunteers for Support Act Limited, and run regional music industry initiatives for up-coming artists.

Peter is also a Chartered Accountant (don't hold that against him) and has been Business Manager, Director and Company Secretary for a number of State and National organisations.

Outside of music Peter's loves include spending time with his family and friends, AFL (Kangaroos), cricket, Football (Man U and Hearts), NRL (Sea Eagles), and reading/writing.

In the nineties, David was a founding member of Canberra power-pop act The New Wave Failures whose two EP’s received rotation on Triple J. He released his first solo EP, also titled ‘Preloved’, in 2009.

After living in Europe for several years, David and his wife Virginie relocated to Kiama on the beautiful New South Wales south coast.
